Sauce alla Puttanesca comes from the island of Ischia, near Naples. This sauce is a true masterpiece of naturalness and savoir-faire. It contains no tomato paste, sugar, colourings or preservatives, just fresh tomatoes and vegetables. The word puttanesca is derived from "puttana", the Italian word for whore or prostitute. Some claim that this sauce earned its name because of its spicy flavour!
